Rural Electrification
About two thirds of the world population live in developing and emerging countries. A lack of infrastructure such as water, sanitation, health care, education and electricity is the daily burden of these people. Solar energy applications provide households and villages with lighting and communication, power water pumps, and refrigerate medical supplies. Solar energy in rural off-grid areas increases the quality of life, stimulates productivity, and reverses urbanisation trends. As reliable PV systems combine initial investments with very low operational costs, they are often the lowest-cost option for off-grid electrification.
BSW-Solar strives to develop solar energy markets in developing countries and aims to improve the framework conditions for private companies. German solar companies and institutions offer a broad range of solutions to ensure technical and socio-economic sustainability in rural electrification programmes. The members of BSW-Solar offer quality "made in Germany"; their products and services ensure the longest possible lifetime of solar modules, electronics, batteries and complete systems.
