As an industry association we have been representing the corporate interests of the solar and solar storage industry in Germany and important foreign markets with competence and commitment for many years. We act as an informant, consultant and mediator in the areas of activity between industry, politics and consumers. We ensure investment security in the growing solar energy industry. All the important companies in the solar industry—from raw material suppliers and production companies, through traders to operating companies, planners and financiers—rely on the expertise and communication skills of the German Solar Association.
In our daily work, we can draw on our vast experience gained over more than 40 years of association history. The German Solar Association was founded on January 1, 2006 when the predecessor associations Unternehmensvereinigung Solarwirtschaft e. V. (Business Association Solar Industry) and Bundesverband Solarindustrie e. V. (German Solar Industry Association) merged. However, the successful history of representing the interests of solar energy in Germany began in 1979 with the founding of the Association of Medium-Sized Solar Industry e.V. (VSI).
Important entities within the association include its executive board, the management with its team of around 20 in the Berlin office, as well as specialist groups, committees and advisory boards that support the work of the association on specific topics.
A statutory annual general meeting gives our members the additional opportunity to actively participate in the association’s work and strategy. Experts from the member companies are invited and called upon to play an active role in shaping the future of solar energy in Germany and elsewhere in the association’s various expert groups.
